From captive father
to a stranded son
“Your world is buoyed by love
but my heart has shrunk”
Poison floods the chamber
covers all he’s bought
Block by garish block
Shelves chock with wrong stock
and a gate to guard the rot
Some of us get breaks,
and others break apart
Fortune sires luck
No shame in naming ills
No innocence on captured film
Expose it all
These cartoon villains
perform their outrageous crimes
Reports relayed from the margins
but who could be bothered
In a place free from promise
Pride smothers the pain
Thoughts bland as fair weather
Pace slow as decay
From village to island to grave
Born in bits
Ground to absence
No shade, all clouds
Envelop us
Chop, chop
Here is the work
Unnatural disaster, unflattering truth
Chop, chop
Bystanders go hiding in plain view
We cut until the root’s removed
Torch passed, torch returns to burn
Tattooed Love Boys gets all the attention on this record, but for me the real highlights are the two instrumental studies in the middle. Lydia & Crushow with its scratchy bass arpeggio intro and the soft acoustic gentleness of Not For Me, For Them. Beautiful stuff as always. Keep raising the bar y'all. endofanera
Play this album in the loudest system you can find, set to 11 and blow you and your neighbours minds. I find interchanging this with Carcass and early Killing Joke a great antidote for any niceness that creeps into my soul. pablo6580
